I'm Taqwa Ahmed Alwawi, a Palestinian writer, poet, and editor from Gaza. Born in 2006, I am completing a BA in English Literature at the Islamic University of Gaza, dedicated to amplifying Gaza's voice and bringing to light stories too often left untold.
My work has been featured in leading international platforms, including I serve as an editor for Baladi Magazine, where I combine my passion for writing and editing to elevate voices that need to be heard.
My poems, A Battle No One Sees, My Beloved Prison, and Alone But Unbroken, are featured in Issue Nine of Finished Creatures, a UK-based literary magazine.
My essay "IN GAZA, WE WERE NOT ALWAYS STARVING" is featured as the first essay in If Memory Serves: Stories from the Table, a food memories anthology published by Good Printed Things, based in Greenville, SC, USA.
My poem "I Long for My Old World" is featured in All Our Kitchens, a digital collection of recipes and poems by chefs and poets across the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Palestine.
My piece "Children Living Through the Genocide in Gaza" is featured in the special issue "Childhood and War" of Deportate, Esuli, Profughe (Deportees, Refugees, Exiled), a journal published by the University of Venice.
My poem "Elegy for Shimaa Saidam" is featured in the January 2026 issue titled Elegies, Memories and Futures, a collaborative project between the University of Glasgow and the Islamic University of Gaza.
My five poems—This Is Slow Death, One Minute in Gaza, To Be or Not to Be, Whispers of Healing, and If I Must Fall, You Must Rise—along with my article Mothers in Gaza Give Life to the Next Generation of Palestinians Despite Genocide, are featured in El libro negro de Gaza / The Black Book of Gaza, a Spanish-language collection of stories from Gaza in which I am a contributing author.
My poems Nineteen and Homeland are featured in Issue 30 of Ludd Gang, a UK-based publication.
My poems "This Is Slow Death" and "Whispers of Healing" are featured in Opol Magazine's Autumn 2025 Quarterly: Presence & Witness.
My poems "Saudade", "O Free Bird", and "Silence Teaches" are featured in Opol – A Quiet Space for Poetry, Solitude & Connection, Quarterly No. 2 (Winter 2026).
